Ace Mahbaz is a dynamic Deaf actor, writer, and performer, a well-known artist in the Deaf community across Europe. Born in Tehran and raised across Europe, Ace has cultivated a truly international perspective that enriches his craft.
With a passion ignited during his teenage years, Ace has graced stages and screens in multiple countries, showcasing his exceptional skills in Visual Vernacular (VV) - a form of visual storytelling deeply rooted in Deaf culture. His performances, spanning six sign languages, have captivated audiences at numerous renowned festivals.
Ace's talents extend beyond acting. He's a two-time winner of Berlin's deaf poetry slam competition and has taken on iconic roles like Oberon and Theseus in 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' at Shakespeare's Globe. As a co-creator of the first-ever sitcom series in sign language, Ace continues to break new ground in Deaf representation in media.
Currently dividing his time between London and Berlin, Ace brings his unique blend of cultural insights and linguistic prowess to every project, contributing to a more inclusive and diverse entertainment landscape. His upcoming role in BBC One's 'Reunion' marks another milestone in his dynamic career.

This project features Ace as one of the three protagonists in the play "Hem" (English: Home), a play that presents a contemporary drama inspired by the testimonies of deaf people fleeing their countries. The play explores the challenges and fear faced by refugees, and delves into the struggle of surviving in a foreign land. Spring 2019
